Please join me in thanking God for protecting my son and his friend yesterday.

I find it very ironic that as my oldest left the house yesterday to go to band practice, I talked with him about the importance of safe driving and what would happen if he caused an accident. Our community seems to be very 'sue' happy. We have seen friends who have lost much over 'accidents.'

Less than two hours later a women ran a stop sign as my son was a passenger in his friends car and they were driving (in one of those very small cars) thru the same intersection. They slammed into her SUV causing her car to roll and overturn. The woman went to the hospital in an ambulance. The boys walked away, but the cars were totaled.

Old One says he is fine, but I worry. He down plays everything. In fact, never even called us. He just told us this morning.

And my first thoughts after hearing he and his friend were not seriously injured were 'Thanks be to God for his protection."

Verse in Context:

9"As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.

10If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.

11I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

12My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

14You are my friends if you do what I command.

15I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

16You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.

17This is my command: Love each other.

A great photo of our Western New York sky this week.

I don't usually link up to meme's on this blog, but I am trying to get a little more exposure for it and so I am linking up to:

If you haven't ever been to that blog carnival - it is so neat to see the skies from all over the world and be wowed by God's awesome creation!

Also if you are interested in photography, a few of us have joined together to share our favorite photo of the week in a post on our blogs. We then link up at:

so we can learn from one another. We'd love for others to join us. It is so good to learn from one another, and I know many of you have more expertise than I do!!

My mom used to always say that her birthday was the day that she would celebrate Mother's Day. 47 years ago today, my mom gave birth to me. She went home to be with the Lord in January or 2001. How blessed I was to be loaned to her for my growing up years. How true the quote from Howells. Too often we don't let the ones we love know how much they mean to us. I am thankful my mom knew how much she meant to me.

These day's the tables are turned as I look at my sons and wonder if they know how much they mean to me.
